- When: Saturday afternoon, October 27, 2007 Starting at 1:00 PM.
Where: Valley Park off Cambridge Drive (Click Link For Map) We will be focusing on the area upstream of the Cambridge Drive Bridge this time.
Why: Low water from the recent drought is exposing junk in the bed of the creek we haven't been able to get at, but now we can. We need your help to get in and get this debris out of the creek bed and up to waiting dump trucks!
Who: Anyone willing to work for a couple of hours, get your feet wet and a bit dirty to help clean up this mess.
What to bring:
-Wear old work clothes that you don't mind getting muddy,
-Hip waders are a plus, (or old sneakers you don't mind getting wet in)
-Work Gloves are a requirement, -wagon or a wheelbarrow would help!
-An old canoe to pile things in from along the shore. (yes parts of this creek are floatable)
-LFUCG Stormwater Program has promised Pizza and Soft Drinks to those willing to help, but you may want to bring a drink or snack to tide you over.
-Most of all, bring your friends!
What if it rains?
-We get wet... In the event of high water (more than knee deep in current) we will alter our cleanup area, but not the date and time.
-Disclaimers: Cleanups are inherently dangerous activities. There is a risk of injury from slipping and falling, cutting yourself on junk, running across angry natives (such as bees, wasps, snakes, bridge trolls) Tetanus and Typhoid shots are recommended. Event organizers and sponsors cannot eliminate nor control all these risks. Participants are responsible for their own safety in these conditions.
