Stream Restoration Projects Fayette County Kentucky
(and beyond)

"Moving Dirt" is a phrase used by watershed managers to indicate actual "on the ground" work to restore streams and shorelines. Techniques based on natural principals of open channel flow, stream ecology and geomorphology are gaining ground over more traditional engineering methods.

The following set of information about stream restoration projects using the principals of natural channel design was compiled as part of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government Council Task Force on Stream Restoration's Plan of Action. The goal is to provide background information for parties considering stream restoration/bank stabilization projects.

Information was provided by organizations and companies involved in stream restoration projects in our area. Should you have material to contribute to this compilation, please contact us!
